Requirements

Candidates should possess a Master's degree in a sustainability-related field or a Bachelor's degree with significant power system modeling experience. Proficiency with power system modeling tools like PyPSA, GenX, ReEDS, or PLEXOS is required, along with experience in authoring, reviewing, or accepting power system modeling results. Familiarity with national and sub-national scale capacity expansion and production cost models, as well as knowledge of electricity decarbonization policy and technology, is essential.

Responsibilities

The Senior Power and Energy Systems Modeler will implement power system modeling, focusing on capacity expansion, unit commitment, and economic dispatch for electricity decarbonization. Responsibilities include collaborating with science and technology teams to develop modeling frameworks, advising clients on decarbonization strategies based on analysis, identifying risks and solutions for power systems, and staying current with modeling best practices and policy changes. The role also involves generating insights and thought leadership from modeling and client engagements.
