Platform Engineer: Kubernetes

The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure DevOps Yaml pipeline and templates, and Docker. Experience in deploying and operating Kubernetes clusters at scale, debugging Kubernetes clusters in incident scenarios, and working knowledge of the wider cloud-native ecosystem and open-source tooling for Kubernetes are essential. Proven experience in a platform environment with a product-first mindset, a proactive approach to problem, incident, and risk management, and excellent communication skills are also required. Experience with microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, and related patterns in a Kubernetes context is necessary. Desirable skills include software development experience in C# (.Net) or Golang, hands-on experience with GitOps methodologies and tooling, and experience in financial services.
The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing a self-service platform, developing a robust and scalable self-service platform using methods like Chaos Engineering, and defining and templating Kubernetes resources such as pods, services, deployments, and ingress controllers. They will also establish GitOps practices for managing infrastructure and application lifecycles, participate in the exploration and adoption of new technologies and practices, and maintain a focus on continuous improvement through retrospectives, planning, and stand-ups. This role includes being part of the on-call support rota and working closely with Technical Product Owners and Engineering Managers to shape the next generation internal platform.
