Requirements

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or M.S. in life sciences with experience in a scientific/medical communications role, demonstrating a deep understanding of clinical genomics for screening and diagnostics. Previous experience in research publications in medical affairs within a clinical genomics organization is required, along with knowledge and familiarity with genomic NGS data. Strong team skills, written and oral communication skills, and excellent grammatical and editorial skills are essential.

Responsibilities

The Senior Medical Communications Specialist will work with cross-functional teams to plan, write, and edit publications and other collateral, leading the development of manuscripts for peer-reviewed research spanning diverse clinical areas. They will organize and develop strong manuscripts stemming from clinical research, research related to pharma companion diagnostics, and research to demonstrate the clinical validity and utility of ‘omics technologies. The role involves preparing scientific abstracts, posters, and presentations for conferences, supporting Illumina’s clinical data analysis team, and providing cross-functional support to various teams within the company. Additionally, they will propose improvements to authoring tools and drive projects to improve efficiency and sensible cost avoidance.
