College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience (required/preferred)
10-15 years of investment sales experience
NASD Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) required
Knowledge of investment management areas across all products and segments (fixed income, active and passive equities, cash, securities, international) and Northern Trust products/services, acquired through related work experience
Ability to communicate and sell Northern products and services to generate revenue
Knowledge of securities and pension industry products and services to compete with other financial institutions
Negotiation skills to respond to fee proposals
Leadership and organizational skills to determine Business Unit goals, resources, and staff development
Seasoned multi-disciplinary expertise with extensive technical/business knowledge and functional expertise
Responsibilities
Sell ETF, Mutual Fund, and Multi Asset Class products and services to suitable prospects to produce fee revenue
Identify new prospects by researching potential needs, prioritizing, and producing a business plan
Act as technical expert and regional lead on bank's products/services and the outside marketplace
Make customized sales presentations to large and complex clients using knowledge of products/services
Utilize knowledge of bank's investment, trust, custody, and securities products/services to collaborate with internal partners and recommend new services/products to clients
Maintain ongoing relationships with advisors, informing them of bank's products/services
Maintain knowledge of bank's products/services through frequent contact with financial institutions/partners and staying current on laws/regulations
Maintain knowledge of competitors and their products/services
Execute strategic direction of business function activities
Carry out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
Display balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity
