Requirements

Experienced in MRI Safety Engineering leadership within R&D organization
Expertise in MRI safety design and testing for implantable medical devices, including RF exposure analysis, device heating, and functional safety
Knowledge of RF and electromagnetic interactions in implantable medical devices
Familiarity with MRI safety modeling, simulation, characterization testing, verification/validation, and MR Conditional labeling
Understanding of applicable standards (ASTM F2182, F2052, F2213, ISO, IEC, FDA guidance)
Ability to manage a team of 6–15 MRI safety engineers and technicians
Capability to provide strategic technical leadership and influence innovation roadmaps, regulatory success, and patient safety
Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Systems Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams
Resource planning, workload balancing, and team development skills
Location-based: Work out of Plano, TX in the Neuromodulation Division

Responsibilities

Lead the MRI Safety Engineering team to ensure safety, performance, and compliance of implantable medical devices in MRI environments
Oversee design and test activities, integrating MRI safety requirements from concept through commercialization
Drive technical excellence and execute MRI safety strategies across programs
Provide expert guidance on RF and electromagnetic interactions
Oversee MRI safety modeling, simulation, characterization testing, and verification/validation
Ensure full lifecycle MRI safety labeling, including MR Conditional testing and strategy
Partner with R&D teams to capture, implement, and verify MRI safety requirements
Drive cross-functional reviews of MRI safety design inputs, risk assessments, and test results
Ensure compliance with standards (ASTM F2182, F2052, F2213, ISO, IEC, FDA guidance)
Lead, mentor, and develop the team of engineers and technicians
Perform resource planning, workload balancing, and capability development
Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams (Quality, Regulatory, etc.) and global development sites
