Job Description: DevOps Lead

Employment Type: FULL_TIME Location Type: Hybrid (onsite 2x per week) Office Locations: Irvine, CA; Atlanta, GA; or Phoenix, AZ

Position Overview

Planet DDS is seeking a motivated leader to own the DevOps charter for the company. This is a high-impact role with significant visibility across engineering leadership. You will lead a distributed team across the US, UK, and Bangladesh, responsible for supporting applications built on Azure and AWS. Your responsibilities will include managing relationships with cloud providers, driving efficiency through cloud spend optimization, and influencing architectural decisions to enhance scalability and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the DevOps team.
  • Build and own deployment, change management, disaster recovery (DR), Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Configuration-as-Code (CaC) strategies for the engineering organization.
  • Develop and execute roadmaps to optimize cloud spend.
  • Develop and execute roadmaps to build highly scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute roadmaps for features that support the engineering organization for upcoming feature launches.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure using infrastructure as code tools.
  • Participate in code and design reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with Azure (preferred) and AWS.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading a distributed team of infrastructure engineers.
  • Deep experience with FinOps and cost optimization.
  • Understanding of distributed system architecture.
  • Strong executor with the ability to drive results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
