Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A minimum of 15 years of experience in Application Engineering, with a focus on building scalable, resilient, and responsive cloud-based web applications, is required. Additionally, 5+ years of experience in leading and managing Software Engineering teams is necessary, along with a strong technical background and hands-on experience in modern front-end and back-end technologies. Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of experience with Apache Kafka and/or Confluent, event-driven architectures, stream processing applications, front-end frameworks (JavaScript, React, Angular), back-end technologies (Java, Python, GoLang, Node.js), database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Application Engineering will lead the team in the design, development, and maintenance of internal-facing applications, including configuring tools and managing applications using CI/CD principles and governance best practices. Responsibilities include recruiting, leading, and managing a team of Application Engineers and Leads, mentoring team members, and fostering a collaborative team culture. The role involves providing technical direction on front-end and back-end technologies, ensuring software development best practices, driving architectural decisions for scalable and secure cloud-based solutions, and overseeing the development and maintenance of server-side logic, APIs, databases, and front-end frameworks. Collaboration with infrastructure and DevOps teams for deployment and monitoring, project planning and delivery, managing support requests, and communicating effectively with stakeholders are also key duties. The manager will represent the Application Engineering team in cross-functional meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
