Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to the Massachusetts bar required
At least five years of legal experience, including significant employment law and broad commercial contract experience; prior in-house experience preferred
Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and litigation management
Proven ability to navigate complex organizations and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
Advise on all aspects of employment law, including hiring, termination, wage and hour compliance, workplace investigations, discrimination claims, and employee relations
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Support HR in managing employee disputes, performance issues, and disciplinary actions
Oversee employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings, including managing outside counsel
Serve as a generalist in-house attorney, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (e.g., vendor contracts, consulting agreements, NDAs, confidentiality agreements)
Provide legal support for strategic business initiatives and operational matters
Respond promptly to legal requests from business units, including HR, marketing, merchandising, operations, and IT
Support enterprise-wide legal compliance programs, including risk assessments and policy development
Train and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals on all aspects of in-house practice
