Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought leader in human factors research, advocating for product users
  • Design and execute studies addressing user behavior and attitudes using appropriate methodologies
  • Generate insights shaping medium and long-term product strategy
  • Contribute to customer, competitive, and software industry research to identify and prioritize usability improvements
  • Contribute to creating usability-related processes and improvements
  • Collaborate with team members on risks and issue resolution for program leadership
  • Create detailed usability improvement concepts
  • Work within internal departments and project teams to create and manage usability improvement activities
  • Use knowledge of customer needs, company technology, business plans, market research, and financial tools (e.g., ROI) to contribute to usability projects
  • Communicate improvement plans, concepts, and status to Marketing, development staff, and senior management
  • Maintain positive communications and collaboration with employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, data science, content strategy, engineering, and marketing
  • Provide human factors support to R&D teams for product development
  • Direct and coordinate all activities for human factors engineering projects, including conducting ethnographic user research to identify user needs
  • Translate user needs to requirements and product design concepts
  • Develop prototypes to explore and validate product designs
  • With supervision, coordinate day-to-day human factors and usability improvement plans for medium-sized projects
  • Support larger projects/initiatives, direct external usability design resources, and report progress
