Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in gameplay engineering or a combination of applicable training and experience
  • Experience delivering AAA-quality features and experiences as part of a cross-functional team including designers, artists, animators, level designers, FX artists, etc
  • Experience working on real-time 3D games
  • Ability to understand and write production-grade C++ code
  • Capacity to make frequent, readable, and well-tested code commits
  • Ability to communicate and articulate vision, ideas, learnings from others, and to give meaningful feedback
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Experience designing and building new gameplay systems to meet the dynamic needs of game designers and world builders

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical solutions to deliver best-in-class player experiences, with a particular focus on player abilities, animations, traversal mechanics, and camera functionality
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to deliver a AAA game and ensure we delight and entertain our players
  • Achieve and maintain high technical standards to ensure best-in-class performance, stability, and productivity
  • Support team productivity by developing asset-creation pipelines, tools, and workflow improvements
  • Collaborate with designers and other engineers to create the systems fundamental to the simulation and presentation of our game world and its inhabitants leveraging the Unreal Engine
  • Support the development of code frameworks, functional components, and workflows and tools
  • Improve the underlying engine technology and infrastructure
  • Work collaboratively with the team to define and execute a technical vision that meets the project’s needs
