Strong empirical research skills, including survey design, econometric modeling, and causal inference, are essential. Proficiency in statistical software like R or Python and extensive experience with large government datasets are required. Demonstrated ability to publish high-quality research and significant experience working with governments, philanthropies, and/or policymakers are also necessary. Prior experience in a government agency or business focusing on technology adoption and AI implementation, along with experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and strong communication skills, are preferred.
The Senior Economist will lead and design labor market research focused on AI's impact on employment, wages, skill requirements, and productivity. Responsibilities include designing and analyzing datasets from proprietary and external sources to track AI adoption across job types. The role involves publishing findings in internal reports, academic papers, and public-facing formats to influence company strategy and external policy discussions. Additionally, the Senior Economist will collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, research scientists, and external partners to integrate economic insights into AI system design.
