Senior Data Scientist (SQL, Python, Scikit Learn, Pandas)

Position Overview

Octopus Electric Vehicles is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their Data Team and revolutionize the electric car leasing industry. The Data Team is responsible for building and maintaining data infrastructure and developing data analytics and data science applications to drive growth and efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work directly with senior stakeholders across all teams to identify how the Data Team can support their goals.
• Own Technical Solutions: Design and implement end-to-end technical solutions, from data gathering and analytics engineering to model selection, training, and interpretation.
• Conduct Experiments & POCs: Develop and deploy machine learning models for critical business challenges such as lead scoring, delivery forecasting, and customer sentiment prediction.
• Deploy Models: Work closely with the Senior Data Engineer to deploy developed models.
• Communicate Insights: Package insights from analytics and modeling into clear narratives for non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to Stack: Build pipelines and DBT models to enable user self-service.
• Support Users: Address user tickets related to reporting, query assistance, and dashboarding.
• Shape Team Direction: Contribute to the strategic direction of the growing Data Team.

• Technical Expertise (in rough priority order):
  • SQL (writing performant queries)
  • Python & Data Science Libraries (sklearn, pandas, spark, etc.)
  • Data Transformation
  • Data Visualization & Storytelling
• Bonus Skills:
  • DBT
  • Experience in a scale-up or similar environment
  • Passion for shaping team direction and working across business areas
