Requirements

Candidates must possess a PhD in a quantitative field such as Machine Learning, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or Psychology. A proven track record of at least three first-author publications is required, along with expertise in LLM, AI/ML model development, validation, and backtesting. Proficiency in Python and/or R is essential, and the ability to communicate complex AI safety findings to diverse audiences is expected. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of independently scoping projects and solving novel problems. Bonus qualifications include prior experience in clinical research settings or working with IRBs/DSMBs, hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and MLOps frameworks, demonstrated passion for advancing AI safety and ethics in healthcare, experience building data pipelines and automation scripts, and experience with A/B tests.

Responsibilities

The Senior AI Clinical Research Scientist will lead the design, implementation, and publication of studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of digital mental health tools. Responsibilities include developing and operationalizing automated safety monitoring plans with real-time signal detection and alerting frameworks. The role involves collaborating with engineering and data teams to build datasets, curate annotated transcripts, and automate labeling workflows. Additionally, the scientist will engage in customer and external-facing interactions to gather requirements and share findings on AI safety performance, and author and submit high-impact academic manuscripts for peer review and conferences.
