Position Overview

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. The Senior Data Manager supports all aspects of configuration control, data management, and deficiency reporting. This role involves moderately complex to complex issues where situational or data analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Data Manager acquires, validates, stores, protects, and processes required data to ensure the accessibility, reliability, and timeliness of the data for its users. This individual develops and executes architectures, policies, practices, and procedures that properly manage the full data lifecycle needs of an enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Organization: Gathering, organizing, and storing data from various sources. Working with IT and other partners to open tickets to get the data we need.
  • Job Management: Ensuring that all data sources have been received and processed throughout the day and reviewing all job failures to resolution. Familiarity with resource allocation for jobs is also required.
  • Database Management: Designing, implementing, and maintaining databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Data Security: Implementing and maintaining security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Data Sharing and Governance: Developing and enforcing data sharing policies and procedures.
  • Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Evaluating the performance of data systems and recommending improvements.
  • Collaboration: Working with our department and other departments and teams to ensure data is used effectively.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Data Migration: Planning and executing data migration projects.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of technical experience in programming.
  • Experience utilizing SSIS and SQL.
  • Experience working in Databricks, Azure, GitHub, Python.
  • Experience creating metadata.
  • Experience taking complex data and making it more accessible, understandable, and usable for leaders to derive insights.
  • Knowledge or experience working with healthcare data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including communication with various levels of the organization.
  • Effective consultative skills.
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • Minimum download speed of 25 mbps and an upload speed of 10 mbps is recommended.
  • Wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Associates who live and work from home in the states of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide home or hybrid home/office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree.
  • Experience with reporting and creating metrics for management.
  • Experience with JSON.
  • Experience with Apache and/or Kafka.
  • Experience with Snowflake.
