Candidates should have 6+ years of experience as a data engineer with a proven track record of building scalable systems and solving complex data problems in a fast-paced tech environment. Proficiency in Python and SQL is required, along with experience using tools like Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, and Terraform. Familiarity with visualization tools such as Metabase or Jupyter Notebooks is a plus. A pragmatic approach to building for future scale, a strong sense of ownership, a bias toward action, empathy for teammates, and a collaborative mindset are also essential. A passion for Headway's mission is highly valued.
The Senior Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support internal stakeholders and core business functions. They will define, develop, and refine data governance, monitoring, and quality standards across the company. This role involves partnering with Product and Engineering to advocate for data engineering best practices and ensure data needs are addressed early in the product lifecycle. The engineer will also work cross-functionally with Analytics, Data Science, and Infrastructure to evolve Headway’s data architecture and own technical decisions across the data platform, contributing to performance optimization and infrastructure-as-code.
