Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in database architecture, data engineering, security and software development
  • Strong expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and distributed databases
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS RDS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of modern data lake and data warehouse architectures
  • Experience with encryption, identity management, and data masking techniques
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools for security and data management
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
  • Business sense: Good grasp of business, strategy, and finance. Visionary and diligent
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Clear communication skills to convey complex ideas to exec management as well as developers
  • Leadership in guiding database governance and architecture reviews

Responsibilities

  • Help direct, develop and maintain a scalable and efficient data architecture for our SaaS platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  • Help develop, modify database schemas, indexing and data partitioning strategies to improve system efficiency
  • Establish guidelines for data integrity, lifecycle management, and access control
  • Define and enforce security policies, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA)
  • Oversee the development and optimization of ETL processes to manage large-scale data ingestion and processing
  • Support the designing and maintenance of HA/DR strategies using replication, clustering, and backup plans
  • Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure RTO/RPO requirements are met
  • Work closely with security teams to implement proactive measures against data breaches and vulnerabilities
  • Stay up-to-date with the newest technologies and trends in data architecture and security
  • Partner with application architects, security leads, product management, and devops teams to align data strategies with business goals
  • Provide mentorship to developers on schema building and data access patterns
