Candidates must have over 7 years of experience in data engineering or backend systems, with a minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership or architect role. Proven experience designing and building distributed data systems on the cloud is essential. Expertise in data modeling, warehousing (dimensional, denormalized, time-series), and data governance is required. Strong experience with streaming architectures (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka) and batch ETL is necessary. A deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines for data systems and infrastructure, preferably GitLab CI, is important. Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and guide technical decisions are crucial. Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and security standards is required. A mentoring mindset with experience supporting engineer growth and improving team standards is a must. They will redesign and modernize the existing data platform using the latest tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and scalability. This role involves collaborating closely with data analysis and product development teams to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data pipelines. Responsibilities include establishing and enforcing data quality frameworks, governance policies, and monitoring tools. The role also entails ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and security best practices. Testing new approaches through Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and conducting benchmarks to continuously improve the data platform is expected. Developing, optimizing, and maintaining ETL/ELT processes to ensure high-quality and consistent data is a key duty. Building robust pipelines for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) is also part of the role.
