Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Cold heading tool design and process engineering experience, preferably in fastener or precision component manufacturing
Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software and engineering analysis tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
In-depth knowledge of cold heading processes, tool steels, heat treatment, and metal forming principles
Demonstrated experience in process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Strong project management, leadership, and mentoring skills
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems (preferred)
Solid modeling and drawing software proficiency (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar)
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of cold heading tooling (dies, punches, cutters, etc.) using advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
Analyze complex product drawings and specifications to determine optimal tooling and process requirements
Oversee and optimize cold heading processes, including material selection, machine setup, and process parameters
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling life, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency
Specify and validate tool steels, coatings, and heat treatments for tooling components
Manage tooling projects from concept through implementation, including cost estimation and timeline management
Support and lead tooling trials, troubleshooting, and process optimization on the production floor
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for tooling designs, process standards, and best practices
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for tooling fabrication, procurement, and technical support
Ensure all tooling and processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Lead, mentor, and coach junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical growth, knowledge sharing, and a collaborative team environment in cold heading tool design
