Requirements

Strong expertise in Vespa or similar search engines, vector databases, and embedding models
Experience architecting and scaling search systems for enterprise-scale knowledge discovery (handling 10-100x volumes, billions of documents, millions of queries, sub-second latency)
Proficiency in hybrid search systems blending keyword search with semantic understanding
Knowledge of intelligent ranking, personalization systems, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with large language models
Expertise in search performance optimization (query parsing, index design, distributed systems, caching)
Ability to design for multi-tenant environments, strict latency SLAs, 99.99% uptime, and observability frameworks
Deep understanding of search infrastructure (index optimization, query planning, distributed retrieval)
Hands-on implementation balanced with system design and mentoring on search best practices and IR fundamentals

Responsibilities

Architect and scale search infrastructure to handle billions of documents with sub-second response times in multi-tenant environments
