About the Role

Harbor is looking for an Analyst, Competitive Intelligence to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of CI Operations, Analysts help colleagues and clients uncover and collect information, analyze and curate findings, and produce several types of research reports to support our clients’ strategic needs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing competitor and market profiles
  • Conducting business analysis and research (financial, strategic, competitive)
  • Synthesizing and contextualizing data
  • Collaborating with the client
  • Researching and editing daily market intelligence briefings
  • Achieving operational targets within the CI team, including individual utilization metrics and meeting client deadlines

Qualifications

The Senior Analyst position requires an individual who enjoys tracking down information online, can ask the right questions to determine which information is relevant to the client and their business needs, and can present the information in a concise, digestible format. Researchers typically work on their own assignments but may support junior or senior employees depending on business needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in a variety of information products and tools
  • Strong interest in business strategy
  • Experience and/or education in business, journalism, professional services, government (policy), or research is an asset
  • Sharp eye for detail
  • Good sense of relevance
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Strong reading, writing and editing skills
  • Essential technology skills: Use of the Internet, online tools, Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with sector-specific sources/tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, Pitchbook, etc.) would be considered a plus
  • Strong knowledge of aspects of web-based content
  • Ability to produce written reports and create presentations, including the ability to quickly summarize information and format reports for aesthetic purposes
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Comfort level with a deadline-driven environment (efficiency, prioritizing requests, etc.)
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
  • Strong initiative, innovative and creative skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic collaboration and delegation
  • High level of proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in business, journalism, marketing or research
  • 5+ years of demonstrable research experience

Work Location

This position can be worked remotely from anywhere in Canada or US.
