Requirements

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a technical, hands-on security operations engineer in a highly regulated industry. Experience in an incident response role, triaging alerts, and leading response activities is required. Practical experience building automation and security detection capabilities at scale using Python, Go, or related scripting languages is necessary. Hands-on experience building and administering security tools such as secure email gateways, SIEM, EDR, SOAR, CSPM, and vulnerability scanners is also required. Excellent communication skills to articulate security and risk concepts to technical audiences are essential. Fundamental knowledge of security and control frameworks like HIPAA, HITRUST, PCI, and GDPR is desired, as is experience with AI and LLMs in security operations.

Responsibilities

The Security Operations Engineer will proactively identify and investigate potential threats by analyzing security event data from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR. They will lead incident response activities, including forensic analysis and documentation. This role involves engineering, deploying, and maintaining advanced security tools to improve threat detection. Automation and orchestration using scripting languages like Python or Go will be developed to streamline operations and speed up threat response. The engineer will also serve as a security subject matter expert, advising teams on security best practices, threat modeling, and secure architecture design.
