Requirements

Responsibilities

Perform duties associated with all assigned posts, including walking and mobile security and safety rounds, stationary posts, traffic control, and special assignments
Monitor doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms
Utilize Health System technology and systems for visitor control, data input/output, weapon screening with handheld wands and EVOLV system, investigations, incident reports, shift logs, access control, infant protection, and security of sensitive areas
Effectively communicate (verbal and written) with division team members, officer-in-charge, immediate supervisor, Nursing Supervisor, Health System security teams, and law enforcement agencies
Provide directions and escorts to visitors, vendors, patients, and staff within and outside facilities and parking lots
Verify staff are wearing ID badges and ensure public (visitors, vendors, contractors) obtain proper ID bands, passes, and badges; fabricate ID badges
Respond to major and minor maintenance issues and communicate with appropriate leadership to resolve
Respond to emergency situations such as CODE Security and CODE RED alerts; serve as 1st level operations responder
Respond to and recognize hazardous/chemical substance spills; assist and use specialized equipment as required
Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives and property, prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry while enforcing Virtua policy and procedure
Assist visitors, patients, vendors, and staff with excellent customer service, hospitality, and positive experience
Conduct weapon screening at public entrances with approved technology
Provide accurate information and directions; respond to all emergency situations and escalate to law enforcement as needed
