Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering (or other engineering field), chemistry, pharmacy, or other related science or technical field
  • Experience in manufacturing sciences, process development, or related field (implied by level and responsibilities)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or implement activities for the development of new and established manufacturing processes of solids, liquids, and semi-solid dosage forms
  • Apply project management skills to implement scaling up of manufacturing processes, supporting new product validations and post-approval qualifications activities
  • Write, approve, and route documents within a manufacturing setting
  • Serve as the primary technical representative on client projects, working closely with internal and external project teams (analytical, quality, project management)
  • Support process development and commercial activities
  • Lead technical/scientific project activities and discussions to develop strategies and technical solutions meeting client needs
  • Investigate, create, and validate new scientific and equipment methodologies for diverse projects using experimental design and established formulation processes for scale-up, registration, and validation phases
  • Create processes and equipment designs for clinical, scale-up, and/or registration batches, including technology transfer to/from clients
  • Lead problem-solving activities with independent judgment, making decisions on moderately complex problems
  • Coach Scientist I and Scientist II’s, providing guidance on projects, including project pathways, excipient selection, equipment, and process parameters
  • Communicate progress up and down the management track, focusing on timely completion and critical points
  • Develop time-bound outlines for validation of new products and manufacturing processes
  • Provide support, mentoring, and guidance to internal team members and clients for product and process development in commercial manufacturing
  • Lead client calls as primary technical representative, providing scientific justification for decisions and recommendations
  • Own review and planning of all technical aspects of projects, including prioritization to meet timelines
  • Integrate risk-based approach during scale-up and commercialization, developing mitigation strategies
  • Draft quality batch production records, protocols, and reports for product development, validation, and routine commercial batches
  • Support routine manufacturing operations to ensure timely product release with appropriate quality attributes and stewardship for commercial products
  • Lead daily meetings with project leadership skills
  • Work independently within the Technical Services Department and as a team member
  • Manage work independently with standard planning to meet project timelines
  • Demonstrate proficiencies in Leadership, Trust, Diversity, and Focused behaviors
  • Exemplify quality attitude daily with standard work and promote outstanding team dynamics and idea generation
