Candidates must have a successful completion of a 3-year technologist diploma in Communications, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent qualification. They should also demonstrate proficiency in computer operating systems and programs, as well as specialized computer programs and analysis tools utilized in the Satellite Control Centre.
The Satellite Controller will monitor and control Telesat-owned and operated satellites, and those operated on behalf of other communication service providers, performing all scheduled and non-scheduled activities associated with their operation. They will assist with maintenance and development of Satellite Ground Control Equipment and Computer Systems, monitor telemetry data for anomalies, prepare and execute orbit maneuvers, ensure accurate scheduling of maneuvers, provide validation and deficiency reporting, recognize and respond to satellite discrepancies, and maintain detailed reports and documentation for all issues encountered.
