  • Computer skills: MS Office (Excel)
  • Analytical/mathematical skills, including ability to add/subtract two-digit numbers, multiply/divide with 10's and 100's, and perform operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Accuracy, reliability, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; ability to learn Sysco software and programs
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

Responsibilities

  • Route all legitimate customer orders in the most efficient way possible for multiple shipping facilities under time and accuracy constraints, adhering to procedures, protocols, customer commitments, hours of service, and weight laws/regulations
  • Plan routes, including integrating new customers into existing routes, determining needs for new routes and shuttle yards, and adjusting for seasonality
  • Analyze existing routes for opportunities to reduce miles, delivery days, and hours to improve cost control and delivery consistency
  • Perform standard route maintenance to capture changes
  • Schedule drivers daily/weekly to stay within overtime guidelines, hours of service laws/regulations, including adjustments for volume and holidays
  • Maintain and provide accurate daily loading and door information for the warehouse department
  • Plan and prepare meetings and presentations for sales management and executive staff on proposed service areas and expense control opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and other applicable regulations
  • Maintain Roadnet system
  • Prepare reports for sales and management
  • Create proposals for transportation management to improve efficiency, customer service, and safety
