About the Job: Risk Associate

As a Risk Associate, you will play a key role in reviewing the credit profile of potential borrowers and approving credit. You will be part of a global team of credit professionals executing our credit policy to ensure profitable loans. We aim for industry-best response times on credit reviews through a tech-first approach to gathering and analyzing borrower information. You will also work cross-functionally to develop deep financial expertise and assist our vendor partners in closing more deals.


Responsibilities

  • Performing risk assessments on potential commercial borrowers using commercial credit bureau information, internal borrowing history, and other firmographic and risk factors.
  • Evaluating compliance requirements, including OFAC and KYC screening.
  • Efficiently and accurately employing a proprietary credit policy to assign borrower ratings, credit limits, and specific loan features.
  • Clearly articulating when and why additional details or financial documents are required.
  • Evaluating borrower documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Spreading customer financial information and analyzing standard financial ratios.
  • Supporting colleagues and leaders in large, complex transactions.
  • Recording loan application decisions and the specific basis for each decision.
  • Performing all duties with a focus on client relationships and superior customer service.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial financial services, with a preference for credit risk experience.
  • 3+ years of experience underwriting commercial borrowers.
  • 2+ years in a transactional operations environment with high-volume processing.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with US commercial lending practices.
  • Ability to maintain US working hours and holiday schedules.
