Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of two years of experience in Life, AD&D, Short Term, and Long Term Disability underwriting and risk analysis. They must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of risk pool management, manual rating, and the competitive landscape of the industry. Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access are also required.

Responsibilities

The Life & Disability Financial Underwriter will compute rates for both renewing and prospective group life and disability accounts, working with Life, AD&D, Short Term, and Long Term Disability opportunities to prepare offers for clients in the small and mid-market segments. This role involves providing rationale and support to Sales, clients, and other areas regarding risk selection, financial analysis, rate computations, and financial activity. The underwriter will also prepare expense estimates, conduct accurate financial analysis, and understand department, segment, and organizational strategy. They will make decisions regarding their work methods, negotiate with field partners, and present options to leadership, following established guidelines and procedures.
