Requirements

  • High School or GED Equivalent (preferred)
  • Ability to work specified hours: 5:00pm-8:00pm M-F and every other weekend/holiday
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with all facets of daily living including meals, medications, housekeeping, and laundry
  • Respect residents’ valuables and personal property (e.g., clothing, dentures, glasses/contact lenses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices)
  • Report any changes observed in residents’ condition or behavior
  • Answer call lights, anticipate resident needs, and complete frequent rounding
  • Prepare residents’ rooms and belongings for admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Follow proper procedures for linen changes, soiled laundry, cleaning of furniture, equipment, and utensils
  • Report equipment in need of repair
  • Assist residents to activities, assist with or direct activities
  • Keep work environment clean and tidy (resident rooms, kitchen, utility rooms, staff lounge, refrigerators, storage areas)
  • Replenish supplies as needed (gloves, soap, paper towels, kitchen supplies)
  • Prepare dining room for meals and serve meals courteously with attention to eye appeal, sanitation, temperature, and special diets
  • Follow sanitary food handler techniques and report poor quality or unsafe food
