Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the landscape industry
  • Degree in horticulture, landscape management, or related field preferred (can be used to substitute for some work experience)
  • Experience and knowledge of customer relations, plant identification, plant insect & disease diagnosis, irrigation/lighting systems, etc
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and time management skills
  • Valid & insurable driver’s license
  • Spanish/English bilingual, pesticide applicator license, and knowledge of sustainable landscaping preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to walk through client’s property, through all types of terrain
  • Able to drive company assigned vehicle (and occasional trailer)

Responsibilities

  • Daily management of maintenance and enhancement crews
  • Bidding and managing enhancement projects
  • Selling new maintenance accounts
  • Monitor health of plants, grass, shrubs and trees on all accounts and schedule technicians as needed
  • Communicate with customers regularly and in a timely manner
  • Write up requested work orders and provide proposals to customers
  • Contact and bid contracts for prospective maintenance customers that fit well into our service and geographic strategy
  • Complete and turn in receipts and billing
  • Manage and monitor schedules for up to three maintenance crews, one enhancement crew, and an irrigation tech (up to fourteen direct reports)
  • Handle hiring new personnel as needed
  • Handle reviews, vacation requests, timecards, and employee terminations/resignations
  • Check on crews daily (for proper safety practices, use of equipment, best practices, etc.)
