DOD Secret Clearance required
Internet Service Provider experience, providing implementation and technical support of networking products
Experience in Service Provider backbone VPN technologies (L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN, pseudowire, etc.)
Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of routers, switches, and firewalls, including hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers
Detailed understanding of service provider protocols surrounding IP networks (TCP/IP, RSVP, Segment Routing, etc.)
Experience in network routing protocol troubleshooting (BGP, IS-IS, and MPLS)
Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN)
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to function in a team environment and recognize and take on tasks with self-direction
Ability to communicate well within the team and articulate clearly

Responsibilities

Serve as SME on Juniper products and technologies
Understand the customer’s organizational structure, become familiar with customer's network implementation, and support procedures and help drive to the highest level of network availability
Carry out testing of new designs, features, and functionality in a laboratory environment and help develop implementation plans to ensure proper operation in live production network
Validate patches and fixes to operating system software that ensure they are implemented and functioning correctly in pre-production, test, and live networks
Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and initiate and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution
Produce written summary reports of design projects, equipment, and network problems on a regular basis to the customer
Hold network information gathering workshops with the customer to understand their existing network design and technical requirements for new network deployments
Train the customer’s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate their Juniper Networks products
Peer with other employees performing similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network
Develop secondary skills in other products in the customer network
Provide daily on-site support at Ft. Meade, Maryland (40 hours per week, may require occasional travel up to 10%, after hours, and on-call support for critical issues)
