Graduate from a licensed Veterinary Technician program
Completed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam)
In good standing or able to license with provincial licensing boards (NSVMA, EVTA)
Able to perform physically demanding work that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds) and constant motion
Experienced Registered Veterinary Technician with passion for emergency medicine
Attention to detail and self-starter abilities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Strong computer literacy, multi-tasking, and time management skills
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and efficient communication skills

Responsibilities

Triage patients by assessing vital signs to determine stable vs. critical
Perform induction, maintenance, and recovery of companion animals (anesthesia/sedation)
Demonstrate knowledge of common and emergent medications
Perform placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters, arterial catheters, and central lines
Calculate CRIs, fluid additives, and drug doses
Manage fluid pumps and fluid setup, including syringe pumps and CRI administration
Perform imaging and laboratory diagnostics
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures under sedation and anesthesia
Complete treatment plans ordered for hospitalized patients
Fill and review prescriptions
Handle patient discharges and client communications
