Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Competency in standard nursing techniques for pre, during, and post-procedure care
  • Ability to maintain sterile technique as scrub technologist
  • Competency with emergency operational procedures, including CPR and emergency measures
  • Skills in IV insertion, medication administration, and IV moderate sedation per physician orders and regulations
  • Ability to perform point-of-care laboratory testing per physician orders and regulations
  • Compliance with organization, company, federal, state, and local regulations
  • Effective communication skills with physicians, patients, and facility management
  • Participation in CQI meetings and quality improvement activities

Responsibilities

  • Supports organization mission, vision, core values, customer service philosophy, and Compliance Program
  • Provides direct nursing care pre, during, and post-procedure under direction of Facility Manager, Director of Nursing, and/or Charge RN
  • Drives quality standards through regulatory compliance, CQI practices, and action plans
  • Addresses adverse events and action thresholds in collaboration with facility management
  • Maintains integrity of medical records, administrative/operational records, facility environmental integrity, and safety
  • Complies with data collection and auditing activities
  • Obtains medical history, performs nursing assessments, discusses procedures, answers questions, and provides patient/family education on post-procedure care
  • Monitors patient condition before, during, and after procedures, especially for moderate sedation and contrast media reactions
  • Acts as patient resource, identifies/communicates patient issues to management
  • Completes accurate documentation from admission to discharge
  • Confirms written orders, consents, lab work; prepares/delivers lab requisitions; reports results to physicians
  • Administers medications and IV moderate sedation per physician orders
  • Assists physician during procedures as scrub technologist
  • Transports patients to assist with workflow
  • Performs additional tasks as designated by physician in compliance with state regulations
  • Provides regular communication with physicians and participates in CQI meetings
  • Assists facility management in verifying instruments and equipment with physicians and staff
