At least six years' experience with service/maintenance of HVAC/R and large ammonia refrigeration units
Knowledge of industrial refrigerated storage equipment ranging from 100 HP to 3,000 HP
Compliance with IIAR, ASHRAE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, and applicable State and Local Codes

Responsibilities

Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance of refrigeration storage equipment ranging from 50 HP to 3,000 HP
Use working knowledge of screw and reciprocal compressors, electrical troubleshooting for all common types of ammonia central systems, and control/alarm systems to perform inspections and preventative maintenance
Apply knowledge of controls and electric (high and low voltage)
Apply knowledge of PC and PLC-based master refrigeration control systems
Maintain freezer and cooler ammonia systems through scheduled preventative maintenance, including checking/draining/filling oil levels, oil analysis, filter changes, sensor/transducer calibration, compressor alignment, belt checks/adjustments/replacements, ammonia leak checks, compressor/cycle/condenser operations
Log time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily via work orders, P.M.s, etc
Check, change, or fill water treatment chemical levels
Oversee and manage Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems, including monitoring/trending, troubleshooting, and repairs (compressors, condensers, fans, heating, cooling, contactors, motors, microprocessors, frequency drives, etc.), and leak detection
Conduct required inspections and reporting
Apply knowledge of glycol underfloor warming systems
Evaluate and implement energy management strategies
Ensure product integrity through temperature monitoring and control
Evaluate and report equipment condition
Complete small electrical repairs and welding projects as needed to reduce external services
Communicate daily pertinent information on system operation and maintenance to departmental management and maintenance teams
Perform housekeeping and cleanup of refrigeration machine rooms, maintenance areas, and project areas daily
Interpret and understand plans/specifications, schematics, operating/maintenance manuals for overseen systems
Conduct audits ensuring all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately (e.g., food safety, ePSM, PSM)
Check condition of freezer and cooler curtains
Suggest efficiency improvements
