Position Overview

This internship offers transitioning military service members (via DOD SkillBridge) or military spouses (via Military Spouse Fellowship) the opportunity to gain civilian work experience. Interns will support the Centralized Medicaid Team by performing administrative and operational tasks, and working on market projects using Humana's Centralized Medicaid training. The program provides networking opportunities. Full-time employment is not guaranteed upon completion.

Requirements

• Transitioning Service Member eligible to participate in SkillBridge or military spouse eligible to participate in the military spouse fellowship.
• Bachelor's Degree or minimum 4 years relevant experience managing multiple small to large scale projects and/or people leadership.
• Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design, communicate, and implement an operational plan.
• Monitor progress and performance against the project plan and take action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
• Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project.
• Participate in meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project.
• Set priorities, allocate tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
• Understand department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives.
• Work with subject matter experts to develop and refine business processes related to project execution.
• Facilitate meetings to resolve issues impacting market operations.
• Make decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, requiring minimal direction.
• Follow established guidelines/procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Business Management.
• PMP and/or Six Sigma Certifications.
• Working knowledge using MS Project and Visio.
• Interest in working in the healthcare industry.
• Previous experience with management.

Additional Information

• Work Location: U.S.
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time. Must be willing to work weekdays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Travel: None. May need to report to the office for meetings or trainings or as needed depending on location.
• Internship/Fellowship Duration:
  • DOD SkillBridge: 90 to 180 days (upon approval).
  • Military Spouse Fellowship: Up to 11 weeks.
