Requirements

  • Architecture degree from an accredited US Architectural Program
  • Proficiency in Revit and rendering programs (e.g., Sketch-Up, Rhino 3D, 3DS Max)
  • Currently licensed as an architect in the state of Illinois (licensure in other states a plus)
  • 10-15 years’ experience providing architectural design, construction document preparation, and comprehensive construction administration as part of a professional architecture/engineering firm
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., City of Chicago, IBC, ADA)
  • Experience with municipal government, federal government, and higher education clients (experience with industrial clients a plus)
  • NCARB Certification (a plus)
  • LEED AP Accreditation (a plus)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Eligibility to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Planning and design of a variety of building projects for government, higher education, and industrial clients (e.g., new buildings, renovations of municipal buildings, laboratories, offices, research & production spaces)
  • Project coordination
  • Preparation of program statements, planning documents, contract documents, and specifications
  • Providing technical leadership in the architectural discipline
  • Assisting colleagues in solving complex design problems using state-of-the-art technology (e.g., Building Information Modeling/Revit, Sketch-Up, Rhino 3D, 3DS Max)
  • Recommending best value design meeting client requirements for intended use, operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety
  • Generating design documentation, construction documents, and renderings utilizing 3D software (Revit, Rhino 3D, others)
  • Developing designs and producing drawings and specifications to define the architectural scope of projects
  • Coordinating all design team disciplines, including outside consultants, to achieve a fully coordinated project
  • Performing specialized investigations such as existing conditions verification
  • Assisting in preparation of construction cost estimates and participating in comparisons of building system alternatives
  • Applying architectural theories, concepts, principles, and processes to provide solutions to complex design projects
  • Assisting in review of technical evaluation of construction bids received from contractors
  • Participating in support of business development activities, providing support and input for client proposals, SOQs, and presentations
