Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with hardware diagnostics, repairs, retrofits, and lifecycle service actions
  • Deep understanding of Physical AI systems, including electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical subsystems
  • Ability to lead on-site investigations and coordinate fixes in warehouse conditions (temperature variations, industrial noise, prolonged standing/walking)
  • Strong communication skills to interface with technical teams, operations leaders, Application Support, and TAC
  • Willingness to spend up to 80% of time deployed at customer sites, potentially for weeks or months, with minimized frequent travel
  • Capability to manage warranty claims, track spares, and implement retrofits/system upgrades
  • Location: Redwood City, CA (office desk-based tasks and lab-floor testing)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary field engineer ensuring reliable operations of Dexterity’s Mech systems at customer sites
  • Lead on-site investigations, own root-cause analysis of hardware and system issues using diagnostics, logs, and hands-on testing
  • Perform repairs, replacements, retrofits, and system upgrades
  • Manage warranty claims, track spares, and process RMAs for assigned sites
  • Drive pilot execution for new product introductions, resolve early issues, and meet customer KPIs
  • Maintain high system uptime by diagnosing root causes and executing rapid, durable fixes
  • Partner with Application Support, TAC, and HQ engineering to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Act as the face of Dexterity Engineering in the field, resolving chronic issues and maintaining long-term system health
  • Author runbooks, knowledge base articles, and automated diagnostics to reduce repeat incidents
  • Become the named technical point-of-contact for strategic sites
  • Deliver actionable bug reports and reproducible cases to accelerate root-cause analysis
  • Provide real-time support and tooling guidance to product and hardware services teams at pilot and production sites
