Position Overview

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. The Senior Product Owner is responsible for conveying product vision and roadmap to an Agile delivery team by defining user stories and prioritizing the product backlog. This role involves moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Senior Product Owner maximizes the value of the product created by an Agile team.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with stakeholders and the development team, ensuring the right product is being built in the right order, within budget, and by the deadline.
  • Serve as the Agile team's primary contact for information, work prioritization, and decision-making.
  • Begin to influence department’s strategy.
  • Make decisions on issues regarding the technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
  • Create and refine user stories for the team and maintain a robust backlog, ensuring an adequate workload for development team members.
  • Act as a team player and strong collaborator both within the department and with Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance Office, and Enterprise Information Protection.
  • Manage technical relationships with external partners, internal dependent technical partner teams, and consuming business owners.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of technical solutions, ensuring all parties involved are aligned with the delivery and timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with business and information technology partners, including communicating complex technology concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Remove blockers and drive the delivery of technical solutions for product initiatives.
  • Lead communications and drive discussions with other Humana teams to achieve product team goals, such as Internal Business Leaders and stakeholders for consuming business teams (e.g., CenterWell, Marketing, Digital, Growth).
  • Ensure the alignment of delivery timelines meets strategic goals for Preferences and partner strategic goals.
  • Develop subject matter expertise and share acquired knowledge with others.
  • Articulate ideas effectively in both written and oral forms.
  • Demonstrate collaboration and team-building skills.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple details simultaneously, with the ability to move between strategic and tactical work in a dynamic environment with changing processes and priorities.
  • Exhibit strong intuition about user experience and what makes a product experience great.
  • Unpack complex, ambiguous problems and ship simple and user-friendly solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and relevant years of experience.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in a Product Owner role.
  • Experience in the Health insurance industry (Medicaid, Medicare, Specialty, etc.).
  • Experience in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) / PPV (Post Production Validation Testing) scenario creation and data gathering.
  • Progressive strategic and operational experience.
  • Strong performance orientation for delivering high-quality technology products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any advanced degree.
  • Experience in Data Storage environments such as relational, unstructured, no SQL, or graph databases.
  • Querying experience in SQL or other analytics software knowledge to view/read data sets.
  • Data Governance and/or Data Stewardship experience.

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office.
  • Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mbps download x 10mbps upload) is required.
  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT permitted.
