Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
3+ years’ mechanical design and manufacturing experience
2+ years of actual product development experience bringing innovative products to market from conception to launch in a regulated industry
Excellent CAD knowledge and skills (Solidworks preferred) for creating parametric models and ASME Y14.5 compliant manufacturable prints
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Ability to travel 20-30% of the time (e.g., surgeon meetings, vendor site visits, trade shows)
Willingness to work directly with cadavers and in surgical situations
Knowledge of ISO standards, DFM & DFI principles, GD&T, material selection, manufacturing methods, and inspection techniques

Responsibilities

Participate in and support product development activities including concept, planning, design, execution, risk assessment, prototyping, Design for Mfg., Design for Inspection, testing (protocol authorship, physical testing, test report generation), pilot production, design reviews, verification, validation, and pre-production
Interact with remote and internal design and manufacturing resources to ensure design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
Participate in and/or organize key customer interactions and communications with sales and marketing to document and develop design concepts through full production launch and maintenance, in accordance with the company design quality system
Listen to customers and generate product inputs defining entire systems and detailed components
Use 3D CAD design and print generation (Solidworks preferred) implementing appropriate ISO standards, DFM & DFI principles, and GD&T
Communicate ideas, schedules, budgets, and testing results effectively to team members, surgeons, and executive management
Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility, manufacturability, and inspectability
Be a productive member of cross-functional teams to assist in creating design documents for assigned projects per medical device standards and internal procedures
Execute and manage assigned design and development projects timely and with quality to meet company short-term and long-term goals
