Requirements

  • Prior managerial experience in building and leading agile, professional design teams
  • High degree of business acumen with experience in the financial services sector and/or risk management practices
  • Established expertise and leadership in product design, leveraging skills across interaction, visual, and service design
  • Experience overseeing and optimizing the use of appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems
  • Ability to lead high-impact, highly complex projects and define/drive design strategy aligned to business objectives
  • Ability to own and sustain effective cross-functional partnerships
  • Competencies in: Product Design Expertise, Leadership (creating positive/inclusive team environment and vision), Human-Centered (championing customer/partner voices), Business-Focused

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Operations Risk Management (ORM) portfolio within the Risk and Audit Design team
  • Manage a team of eight (growing to 10+) design professionals dedicated to core governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) system, risk assessments modernization, and operations risk management
  • Collaborate deeply with research teams, Product and Tech leadership, enterprise Risk business partners (business owners, product owners/managers, engineering partners)
  • Lead high-impact, highly complex projects and drive design strategy that informs organizational vision and aligns to business objectives
  • Elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice at Capital One
  • Enable team to develop artifacts including vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes
  • Create conditions for a positive and inclusive team environment, setting a vision for collaborative culture
  • Champion voices of customers and partners, modeling human-centered mindset for complementary business/customer outcomes
  • Push innovation and user experiences in safeguarding the business and Capital One ecosystem through premier design quality and craft
