Requirements

Candidates must have extensive experience as a Data Engineer, with a significant portion in a principal or lead capacity. Deep expertise in Azure data platform services including Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Database/Azure Synapse Analytics is required. Strong proficiency in SQL, excellent programming skills in Python (Scala is a strong advantage), proven experience with data modeling and schema design, and a solid understanding of data governance, quality, and security principles are essential. Experience with version control systems like Git and strong problem-solving abilities are also necessary. Desirable qualifications include experience with real-time data streaming technologies, CI/CD pipelines for data solutions, containerization technologies, other cloud platforms, and relevant Microsoft Azure certifications.

Responsibilities

The Principal Data Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of high-performance, scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Azure services. They will architect and manage data solutions within the Azure ecosystem, drive the adoption of best practices for data governance, quality, and security, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and solutions. Responsibilities also include optimizing data processing performance and cost efficiency, developing monitoring and alerting for data pipelines, mentoring junior engineers, evaluating new data technologies, contributing to the data strategy, and troubleshooting complex data issues.
