Position Overview

Rumble is a high-growth neutral video platform dedicated to creating independent infrastructure that is immune to cancel culture. Our mission is to restore the internet to its roots by making it free and open once again.

We are seeking an elite Principal DevOps Architect to join our high-performing team. This role is pivotal in building, securing, and automating the systems that ensure our global infrastructure is fast, scalable, and reliable. This is not a maintenance role; it's for someone who wants to design, automate, monitor, and harden critical infrastructure components. Our philosophy is: Automate everything. Deploy everywhere. You will be at the core of our engineering and operations strategy, driving faster, smarter, and more secure software delivery through frictionless pipelines, robust cloud infrastructure, and intelligent systems.

Responsibilities

• Work with multiple Linux distributions, including package-based (e.g., Ubuntu) and source-based (e.g., Gentoo).
• Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to enable development teams to ship code with confidence and speed.
• Champion reliability and uptime by ensuring infrastructure is secure, monitored, performant, and self-healing.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to embed DevOps best practices from design to deployment.
• Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix) for comprehensive environment visibility.
• Optimize application performance using containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Lead incident response efforts and post-mortem analyses to drive learning and continuous improvement.
• Continuously explore and adopt new tools, patterns, and approaches to stay at the forefront of DevOps and SRE.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of expert-level experience managing and working with Linux-based servers.
• Strong experience in compiling custom Linux kernels, including monolithic kernels.
• Expertise in modern CI/CD practices, GitOps workflows, and pipeline orchestration tools.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation languages such as Python, Bash, and Go.
• Solid understanding of containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Experience managing monitoring platforms and incident management systems.
• Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including secrets management, policy-as-code, and shift-left security principles.
• A collaborative mindset with exceptional communication skills and the ability to mentor and work effectively with other engineers.
• Strong experience in working with and running multi-server clusters.
• Expertise in troubleshooting software and systems using tools like grep, top, and log analyzers.
• A passion for solving complex problems with clean, scalable, and reliable solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience with physical computers/servers and related hardware.
• Familiarity with zero-downtime deployment strategies like blue/green and canary releases.
• Expertise in tuning various server software (e.g., NGINX, MySQL, ClickHouse) and performing low-level performance optimizations.
• Strong experience with one or more of the following database technologies: MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, MariaDB.
• Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or a strong focus on systems performance.

• Contributions to open-source DevOps tools or active participation in technical communities.
• Experience or familiarity with developing in or working with one or more of the following languages: Go, PHP, C/C++, Python, Rust.
