Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or an equivalent, with over 5 years of backend development experience and at least 2 years in a leadership role. Strong expertise in Python and Ruby on Rails, SQL & NoSQL databases (Postgres, Redis, Cassandra), RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is required, along with Git proficiency. Prior experience in SaaS or PLG contexts and familiarity with PLG initiatives or growth-oriented engineering work are preferred.
The PLG Sr Backend Engineer / Lead will architect, scale, and optimize backend foundations, leading a team of backend engineers to foster collaboration and establish best practices. They will guide the team in building systems for self-serve onboarding, trial-to-paid conversions, and retention loops, while supporting experimentation with feature flags and A/B testing. Responsibilities include designing robust architectures, optimizing system performance, collaborating with Product Managers, Frontend Developers, and Designers, overseeing CI/CD pipelines, and staying current with backend technologies and PLG best practices.
