Position Overview

Headway's mission is to build a new mental health care system that everyone can access. We have developed software that facilitates the connection of individuals with therapists through a national network of providers who accept insurance. A significant portion of the population in the US experiences treatable mental health conditions, but the high cost of therapy, due to most providers not accepting insurance, makes it inaccessible for many. Headway addresses this by simplifying the process for therapists to accept insurance and expand their practices.

Founded in 2019, Headway has grown into a diverse national network comprising over 45,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states. Our software supports these providers, and we have served over 1 million patients. We are a Series D funded company with over $325 million in funding from prominent investors including a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures, and Health Care Service Corporation.

• Financial Processing and Bookkeeping: We support thousands of independent providers in managing their small practices. Accurate and detailed financial systems are crucial for their success, and we take our role as their trusted partner very seriously.
• Claims Management and Insurance Processing: We guarantee patients predictable costs for their care and assure providers of streamlined insurance operations. Headway processes hundreds of thousands of claims monthly across all states, major insurance networks, and governmental programs, requiring robust and scalable systems.
• Internal Tooling Platform: Healthcare involves a significant human element. Our engineers build internal tools for various non-technical teams, requiring a scalable and high-quality platform. This platform supports our Customer Experience (CX) team interacting with patients and providers, our operations team managing claims denials and escalations, and our medical team focusing on care quality.
• Therapist Practice Management: We are building a best-in-class platform for therapist practice management.
