Pharmacist - Board of Pharmacy active in state of practice (Upon Hire)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays (PRN, part-time)

Responsibilities

Interpret, process, and monitor medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness
Provide medication information on proper usage, desired effects, potential adverse effects, and perform inventory control during distribution and administration
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, Code of Ethics, and policies to ensure compliance
Supervise Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, intravenous admixture, and prescription preparation/distribution
Mentor students, interns, technicians, and others in career plans or professional development
Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and promote patient safety
Recommend changes within the department and facility to improve quality of care and services
Assist in drug use reviews, patient care audits, and detecting/reporting adverse medication reactions
Perform clinical activities such as kinetics, medication therapy monitoring, medication information, and educational programs
Monitor medication therapy, including analysis of patient’s medication therapy, medical problems, laboratory data, and special procedures, correlating with other clinicians
Ensure safe, effective, and economical use of medications; prepare and dispense prescriptions; advise on drug therapies; monitor regimens; conduct patient education
Collaborate with medical staff to manage treatments and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
Oversee activities of pharmacy technical staff and interns; may include committee involvement, teaching, clinical research, and continuing education
