Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Family Studies, Counseling, Recreational Therapy, Human Services, Human Development, Child Development, Gerontology, Behavioral Science, or Rehabilitation Counseling
OR Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree from an approved institution
OR Four years of qualifying work experience in a related human services field (e.g., case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation) or a combination of education and experience equaling four years
OR Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP) certification (CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, RADC-P, RADC, CCDP, CCDP-D)
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must possess a current driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance
Must be willing to self-identify as a present or former client of mental health and/or substance use services OR self-identify as a person in recovery
Must present evidence of a sponsor and participation in a 12-step program if asked
Requires one year of direct and personal experience with the mental health system

Responsibilities

Serve as a role model and source of hope by sharing your personal recovery story
Collaborate with individuals to create recovery-focused goals and personalized treatment plans
Provide transportation to and from appointments and accompany individuals to services when needed
Assist individuals in accessing community, medical, and recovery resources
Facilitate or co-facilitate group education and support sessions
Offer mentoring, advocacy, coaching, and emotional support
Encourage and empower clients to make independent, healthy life choices
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary
Build strong, supportive relationships to promote ongoing engagement in recovery
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
