Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience in dialysis preferred, but not required (entry-level)
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of hemodialysis procedures and protocols
Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

Performs ongoing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patients undergoing hemodialysis
Documents patient data and makes necessary adjustments to the treatment plan
Notifies appropriate personnel (Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician) of any concerns
Administers medications as prescribed, documenting justification and effectiveness
Initiates or assists with emergency response measures
Assesses patient/family learning needs and provides initial and ongoing education
Serves as a resource for the healthcare team
Participates in staff training and orientation
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments and care plans
Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are followed
Schedules and reschedules laboratory collections as needed
Ensures patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
Completes all requirements for advancement within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP)
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
