Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in dialysis preferred, but not required (entry-level)
  • Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of hemodialysis procedures and protocols
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Performs ongoing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patients undergoing hemodialysis
  • Documents patient data and makes necessary adjustments to the treatment plan
  • Notifies appropriate personnel (Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician) of any concerns
  • Administers medications as prescribed, documenting justification and effectiveness
  • Initiates or assists with emergency response measures
  • Assesses patient/family learning needs and provides initial and ongoing education
  • Serves as a resource for the healthcare team
  • Participates in staff training and orientation
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments and care plans
  • Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are followed
  • Schedules and reschedules laboratory collections as needed
  • Ensures patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Completes all requirements for advancement within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
