About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Operations Specialist Support to join our IT Operations team. This position is critical to ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of our systems, supporting both internal operations and external vendor integrations. The ideal candidate will have a detail-oriented mindset, a strong sense of responsibility, and experience working in an IT or operations support environment.
Shift: Evening shift 3pm CST - 11pm CST, and occasional weekends.
Your Day-to-Day at Sagent
- Monitor iSeries (AS/400) systems, responding to system alerts, error messages, and performance issues to ensure system stability and uptime.
- Perform backups, restores, and tape management using BRMS to safeguard data and support disaster recovery plans.
- Manage lockbox posting processes for vendors such as MoneyGram, Paymentus, Chase, ensuring accurate and timely financial data posting.
- Execute Initial Program Loads (IPLs), including system reboots, updates, and maintenance tasks during scheduled windows.
- Run batch jobs and scheduled tasks using job scheduler tools or manual commands, ensuring completion and investigating job failure delays.
- Provision, modify, and deactivate user profiles in development and lower environments, maintaining access controls and supporting development/testing needs.
- Perform routine system health checks, including disk space monitoring, job queues, printer queues, and system logs.
- Support file transfers, data uploads, and downloads using FTP/SFTP or other secure methods between internal systems and external vendors.
- Maintain and update system documentation, operational runbooks, and procedures, contributing to knowledge base articles and process improvements.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Infrastructure, Network, Application Support) to escalate and resolve complex system or application issues.
- Assist in change management activities, including preparing for system maintenance, documenting changes, and communicating impacts to stakeholders.
- Participate in audit and compliance activities by ensuring system access, job processes, and backup activities meet internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Execute and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly backups according to BRMS schedules on multiple LPARs.
- Document incidents and resolutions in operational documents and/or ticketing systems.
What We're Looking For
- High School graduate or equivalent with 2-3 years of experience.
- Strong theoretical knowledge base in network engineering principles and concepts, complemented by hands-on experience in the field.
- Over 2 years of experience with IBM AS400 / iSeries operations and job monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of CL commands, job queues, output queues, and system values.
- Familiarity with tools like Robot/SCHEDULE, HelpSystems, BRMS, or similar.
- Understanding of job control, system backups, and recovery procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work on-call rotations or weekend shifts if required.
- Experience with IBM Cluster System (iSeries System), basic iSeries commands, and BRMS System.
- Proficiency in Windows 11, ServiceNow ticket system, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
- Basic knowledge of networking, IBM System Storage TS4500, and system monitoring tools.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Dallas-based. Hybrid or onsite work, based on organizational needs.
