Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience with office management and event planning
  • Prior experience in employee engagement, operations, or as an executive assistant is a plus
  • Characteristics that lead to success in the role (e.g., modeling transparency, truthseeking, candid feedback; being a welcoming presence for new staff)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Oakland office (headquarters and host for semi-annual Visit Weeks), ensuring it is in great shape and provides a seamless experience for in-office employees and guests
  • Manage vendor relationships and support employees in smaller coworking spaces in New York City, London, and potentially others
  • Plan and manage in-person events, including location/venue selection, vendor management, travel/logistics coordination, and on-site support; occasionally support donor events
  • Fully plan twice-yearly all-staff Visit Weeks
  • Lead planning for annual retreats for Operations, Research, Outreach, and senior leadership teams, working closely with departmental leadership
  • Provide responsive support for several small subteam retreats
  • Build engagement in a remote-first work environment by developing new rituals and managing existing ones like All-Staff meetings, Brown Bag Lunches, and Round Tables
  • Recognize employees by praising/incentivizing excellent performance, celebrating big wins and milestones
  • Carry GiveWell’s culture by modeling transparency, truthseeking, and candid feedback; support new staff onboarding and acclimation
