Requirements

  • 7 years of OCS construction experience working on rail electrification projects; including but not limited to: prefabrication of OCS materials, installation of main steel, grounding and bonding, wiring installation activities (ATF, SW, MW, CW and Head Span), in-line insulation, disconnect switches, regulation, testing and commissioning
  • 5 years of experience running and managing multiple OCS crews on electrification rail projects including planning and implementing work schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate employees and deployment of field resources on projects of various size and complexity as project demands
  • Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)

  • Ability to be on feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists; physically demanding work requiring full range of motion (bending, kneeling, reaching); lift/carry up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally; effective communication and visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work; tolerate prolonged sitting for office tasks
  • Adaptable to construction sites with all weather, moderate to loud noise, elevated/confined areas, moving equipment, fast-paced environment; follow safety policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the safe performance of OCS construction
  • Assist in development of project work plans and work schedule of night crews
  • Provide technical guidance in construction standards and procedures
  • Provide direction in project execution and construction activities
  • Appropriately resolve project related disputes with craft personnel
  • Report issues to the General Superintendent and/or designated staff regarding construction performance, workload status, potential legal issues and potential opportunities
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
  • Maintain positive personal contact and relationships with management, staff, craft and the local unions
  • Ensure that all activities are consistent with project plans, policies and procedures
  • Supervise craft personnel in various areas of responsibility
  • Manage performance expectations of craft personnel
  • Provide advice, guidance, and direction to field engineers and craft personnel
