Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science Engineering degree or related Science degree from a college or university with an accredited engineering program
- Extensive knowledge in Mechanical, Chemical, Structural or Nuclear area of expertise
- Post Graduate Degree (Technical Expert), desired
- Registered Professional Engineer, desired
- 10-15 years' experience
- Technical understanding of nuclear plant processes/programs not well understood by others
- Qualified to prepare complex design changes
- Qualified to prepare engineering reports
- Qualified to prepare complex 10CFR50.59 evaluations
- Ability to perform tasks in accordance with established expectations for nuclear safety and personnel safety
- May be responsible for developing other employees in area of expertise
- Serves a lead role on projects, teams, processes, or programs
- One of few who possess abilities not easily gained and of significant depth in specific area(s) of expertise
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive engineering involvement in the Air, Water, and Steam system to improve overall plant reliability
- Ensure that system performance is monitored and analyzed and that issues are proactively identified and resolved
- Conduct regular walkdowns of the system to monitor material conditions, striking the appropriate balance between daily support activities and long-term requirements
- Develop long-range improvement plans for key plant assets requiring attention such as obsolete equipment, vulnerabilities from OE, upgrades that would result in operational or financial benefits, and determining and reporting Maintenance Rule availability
- Provide innovative engineering solutions for difficult problems
- Assess and resolve potential conditions adverse to quality
- Support day-to-day, emergent, outage activities, and long-term strategy related to equipment reliability and troubleshooting
- Plan and perform engineering duties as assigned, working independently
